Matt on the Issues - Racial Justice

People who are killed unnecessarily by an instrument of the state should be given justice.

People should not have to worry if the color of their skin will determine anything in their life - whether that's how the police interact with them, how they are perceived in stores, how they are hired, or how they are compensated. We are all humans, and the vast majority of us believe in true democracy and capitalism. That means being paid on merits and worth, not based on skin color or ethnic backgrounds.

If we find that this is happening, we have a responsibility to fix it so that everyone has the same chance at success. This starts at the ground level by investing in lower income communities around the state and ensuring that we have the same quality of public works, emergency services, and schooling. Where you live in this state and what you look like should not have any impact on how you can live.
