From the Trail: Endorsements, Fundraisers, and Ads, oh my!

Maybe it's too old to make a reference to but it is really easy to shoe horn in a "Wizard of Oz" reference...

Anyways, it has been over a week since my last post on here so I figured I would update anyone interested on the goings on of the campaign.

First off, I posted my second endorsement of the cycle and one very near and dear to me. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive voice that I follow and look to for inspiration in various fields, officially endorsed my campaign this week. I know he isn't as known nationally as some, but I truly believe he is the kind of person that I aspire to model aspects of my campaign after and getting any form of recognition from him meant a lot to me personally.

I also just announced my second event - a fundraiser at Plymouth Park. It will be a free to attend BBQ with pulled pork provided by Shier's Deli, various outdoor games (weather dependent), and several drinks and sides for people to enjoy. It will be a casual event with a couple of short speeches about what we are working towards and then a couple hours of me getting the chance to speak with a lot of you one on one as we enjoy some nice weather and even nicer food.

Not only that, this week saw the official launch of my social media ads. Believe it or not, it has become increasingly difficult to post political ads on social media (something I actually think is more of a good thing than not) so I had to jump through a dozen hoops to finally get here but we made it! This does highlight just why we need this fundraiser, however, as ad campaigns, yard signs, and (soon) mailers will become more and more of a thing to worry about. As always, you can donate @ www.actblue.com/donate/mattformi (cheap plug, I know).

As for what is on the horizon, next week I should be receiving some t-shirts and hats that I ordered as "testers" before I place any larger orders. So keep an eye out for a post asking about interest in shirts so I know what to order down the road. I also have begun work on writing a series of short videos to post here and on YouTube/various social media platforms that will help introduce people to me and the issues that are important to me and the campaign. When that goes live, I will be posting a link to the channel so people can subsribe.

I feel like I say this a lot - but it's true. This is a grassroots campaign with little budgeting, little staff (literally just me), and a build as we go mentality. That isn't said for pity or to cover up shortcomings - it's a call to action. If you believe in us and what we are trying to build in MidMichigan, please follow us on social media, share our website, send me a message for a yard sign, donate if you can, or show up to our events. Every single voice added to our cause is one that raises our volume and expands our reach. I truly couldn't do it without the help I have and will receive, and I will always be grateful for that.

Until next time, we'll see you on the same Matt channel at the same Matt place (slightly newer reference but still about 50 years old...).
